Amalinda Lodge

Amalinda Lodge is set within the jumbled granite domes and kopjes of Matobo Hills World Heritage site, just 45 kilometres from Zimbabwe’s second city, Bulawayo. The camp has a very secluded location thanks to the magnificent landscape with its many small hidden valleys.

Accommodation & Facilities
Amalinda Lodge has nine spacious rooms built from stone and thatch scattered among the rocks. There are three family rooms, and all have showers and a bath, apart from one which has an outdoor shower instead. The rooms vary in size and layout thanks to the nature of the rocks on which they are built, and this adds greatly to the character of the lodge. The central part of the lodge includes a pool with a great view, a dining room, a library, a chess room, and two bars. Amalinda Lodge has plenty of quiet corners in which guests can relax and enjoy the sounds of the bush around the camp, and there’s also a spa.

Wildlife & Activities
Activities at Amalinda Lodge include game drives in the Matobo National Park, walks to see sites of historical interest, visits to ancient bushman rock art sites and shelters, and bush walks. The national park has a rhino sanctuary, and walks to see these wonderful animals can be arranged on request. Wildlife to be seen in the area includes kudu, zebra, impala and other plains game. There are numerous leopard living in the hills but they are rarely seen thanks to the thick bush and good cover. The hills have a very high density of Verreaux’s or black eagles that feed on the numerous hyrax found here. These magnificent raptors can often be seen soaring for hours across the rugged landscape.
