Anvil Bay

Anvil Bay is a private and exclusive beach camp in the Maputo Special Reserve in southern Mozambique.   The area combines lakes, wetlands, sand forests, grasslands and mangrove forests with a pristine coastline.

Accommodation & Facilities
The safari style camp is set on an unspoiled beach and accommodates up to 18 guests.  The thatch and canvas cashinas (meaning little home in Mozambique) are nestled into the canopy of the coastal forest and designed to take full advantage of the cooling ocean breezes.  Each has an indoor and outdoor shower, a well-stocked fridge and private dining deck.  Canvas tents provide shade on the beach while the beach bar lounge and restaurant are centrally positioned on the bay.

Wildlife & Activities
Guests can explore the expansive stretch of coastline on foot or on special ‘fat sand’ bikes.  There are paddle boards, sea kayaks and body boards while snorkelling trips to the nearby reefs offer a great opportunity to explore below the surface.  Whale watching is excellent in the area between July to November when humpback whales make the annual migration along the Mozambique coast.  Guests can also take turtle nest walks from December to late March when loggerhead and leatherback turtles come ashore to lay eggs.  Game drives into the Maputo Special Reserve to look for elephant, ocean cruises, shore fishing, beach games, and exploring rock pools with marine guides are some of the other activities available here.
