Atmosphere Kanifushi
Atmosphere Kanifushi is an all-inclusive resort situated in the sparsely populated Lhaviyani Atoll. Kanifushi island itself is around 2km in length and about 90 metres wide with glittering white sands and lush tropical vegetation. The resort is reached via a 30 minute sea plane transfer from Malé International Airport. Children of all ages are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
The entire resort has been designed and built with a fusion of traditional and modern architecture giving a contemporary feel with a local touch. The 132 stand-alone beach villas are spread along the lagoon shore, each offering a spacious living area and all have direct access to the beach and the beautiful lagoon beyond. The Sunset Pool and Sunset Family Villas are the best option for families. The 10 Sunset Pool Villas sleep two adults and two children and are in a secluded spot at the northern-most tip of the island. They have their own pools, loungers and direct access to the beach. The 18 Sunset Family Villas are the largest option and sleep a maximum of six people, comprising two interconnecting beach villas with separate outdoor access. These villas boast a larger combination of indoor and outdoor space as well as being located closer to the main restaurant and Kids Club club making them ideal for families travelling with children.
There are two main pools (The Liquid and The Sunset) situated on the sunrise and sunset side of the island. The Liquid pool on the eastern side of the island is the family destination and includes a 50cm deep children’s pool. The Sunset pool is an adults only pool.
There are four restaurants, a main bar, the Akiri spa, dive and sail watersports centre, The Club House sports and recreation centre and Kids Club.
Eating & Sleeping
A children’s menu is available in the restaurants typically including fish and chips, spaghetti, burger and fries, spring rolls and pasta dishes. The most family friendly of the restaurants is The Spice, the main buffet-style restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner which is open between 7am – 10pm. In villa dining is also available.
Babysitting can be arranged via the Kids Club for children aged from the age of four months to five years old at a rate of US$ 18.50 per two hours per child. Every additional hour will be charged at US$ 12.50 per hour. The service requires pre-booking at least 12 hours in advance and is available from 9.00am – 8pm. The services are provided by in-house personnel and can either be in the Kids Club or in the villa.
Activities
There is plenty to do at Atmosphere Kanifushi, from jogging trails and yoga or exploring the vast lagoon and reef beyond. Diving and snorkelling is excellent, and a variety of water sports, both motorised and non-motorised is available from the water sports centre. Excursions to local community islands, to deserted islands for a picnic lunch and sunset cruises can also be arranged – many of which are offered on a complimentary basis. The spa is set among lush landscaped gardens with a pretty coastal view and is a super spot to enjoy a pampering treatment.
