Azura at Quilalea

Azura at Quilalea is a beautiful, entirely uninhabited island in the Quirimbas Archipelago off the northern Mozambique coastline. The island, which offers guests the highest degree of seclusion, is just 35 hectares in size and is surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Transfer to Quilalea is by helicopter from Pemba direct to the island.

Accommodation & Facilities
The island accommodates a maximum of 18 guests in nine villas. Each villa is built from natural stone and has a thatched roof. The villas are spacious, beautifully handcrafted from indigenous materials, have en-suite facilities and are furnished with traditionally built furniture. Private verandas and large windows offer panoramic sea views. Each villa has air conditioning as well as colonial ceiling fans to keep guests cool. The communal facilities on the island include a bar, lounge and library area, a small plunge pool, and a restaurant serving excellent fresh seafood.

Activities
Azura at Quilalea is a water-lover’s delight with activities ranging from superb scuba diving and snorkelling (some of which can be done straight off the beach onto the ‘home reef’), to fly-fishing, sport fishing, canoeing, sailing, swimming and bird watching. Guests can also take the opportunity to discover the traditional way of life and local culture by visiting the village of Quirimba or the ancient forts of Ibo Island.
