Azura Benguerra on Benguerra Island is a luxury eco-boutique resort in Mozambique’s beautiful Bazaruto National Park. Guests on this remote unspoilt island in the Bazaruto Archipelago are surrounded by stunning white sand beaches, sparkling turquoise seas, swaying palms and star-studded nights.
Accommodation & Facilities
The lodge comprises 20 villas which are set amid the indigenous trees and are only footsteps from the beach. Azura Benguerra blends designer chic with traditional Mozambique style, including carved wooden beams and local thatched roofs. There are three beach villas which have wonderful sea views, a private deck, beachside sala and plunge pool. The three luxury beach villas also offer superb sea views, a private deck and plunge pool. The bedrooms are spacious and have both fan and air conditioning and an en-suite shower room. The outdoor facilities include an outside shower and plunge pool. The ten infinity beach villas have the same beautiful views and luxurious facilities but come with bath and a private five metre infinity pool. Four of the infinity beach villas have been arranged to suit families, with a linked walkway between the two villas.
The lodge has two exclusive private villas, Villa Amizade and the Presidential Villa. Amizade offers two en-suite sea view bedrooms, a large swimming pool, lounge and dining areas and a beachfront garden. The larger Presidential Villa sleeps up to six guests, offering spacious lounge area, a tree-house lounging area, large pool with extensive lounging areas. Two Royal Villas offer the ultimate in luxury for a couple, with a 10 metre private infinity pool, a jacuzzi, and a private sala in addition to the beautiful bedroom and bathroom.
Guests at Azura Benguerra have access to the private Peri-Peri Beach Club, located about a kilometre along the beach, which has a large ocean facing swimming pool, beach bar, spa pavilion and lunch options including a pizza oven and personal charcoal grills perfect for cooking seafood. It is currently open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Activities
Azura Benguerra offers wonderful Mozambican cuisine and service together with a wide range of activities including scuba diving, snorkelling, visits to Pansy Island, fishing, swimming and dhow sailing. The lodge also has a 5 star dive centre offering a full range of PADI courses. On dry land guests can visit the unique African spa, go horse riding (must be booked in advance), and enjoy island drives, beach picnics and star gazing.

The Azura Benguerra staff are very family focused and among a host of activities for children are:
• Search for Pansy shells on an island that appears at low tide.
• Climb sand dunes.
• Look for crocodiles and other marine life above and below the water.
• Find and taste local fruits.
• Play football with the local team.
• Kayak and paddleboard.
• Treasure hunt.
• Making cookies/pizza with the chefs.
