Bartholomeus Klip

About an hour from Cape Town in the Riebeek Valley just north of Wellington, Bartholomeus Klip is a Victorian farmhouse set on a 6,000 acre sheep and wheat farm. The farm is adjacent to a 10,000 acre private nature reserve that runs up into the mountains and is mostly fynbos, with around 850 species of plants recorded.

Accommodation & Facilities
There are four rooms within the original farmhouse, an external honeymoon suite and the Wild Olive House in the grounds. The style of the decoration is traditional and very comfortable, with plenty of space for relaxation. Bartholomeus Klip has an attractive dining room in a conservatory, and the main house is surrounded by a stoep or verandah. Wild Olive House is set privately away from the main house, and is a self-contained unit which sleeps six adults and two children. There’s a large saltwater swimming pool, spacious gardens with beautiful flowering plants and lawns, and a huge dam next to the house, where kayaking, windsurfing, fishing and birdwatching are all on offer. A double storey deck house beside the dam is an ideal place for relaxing or bird watching.

Wildlife & Activities
Activities at Bartholomeus Klip include walking, kayaking, fly fishing, mountain biking, game drives on the reserve, hiking in the mountains, and taking part in farm duties. Bartholomeus Klip is renowned for its food, and cooking classes can be arranged if required. The farm makes an excellent base for trips to the nearby winelands and local food tours.
