Camp Kipwe

Camp Kipwe is nestled amongst dramatic granite rock kopjes and looks out onto superb scenery within the Twyfelfontein area of Damaraland in Namibia. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Camp Kipwe has twelve spacious rooms, including three suites. All rooms are en-suite and have a large outdoor deck from which to admire the views. There are two rooms with a children’s tent connected at the back with two children’s beds thereby providing accommodation for a family of four. Families of five can be accommodated with an extra bed in the master bedroom.  One of the family units has a second bathroom with a toilet and shower, the other family unit shares a bathroom. Another possibility is for children to be accommodated on mattresses in the lounge area of the suites

The surrounding boulders, red basalt rocks and mopane branches help to give the camp a natural organic feel. The main area is raised and comprises four thatched domes housing a dining room, lounge and bar and a curio shop. There is also a small swimming pool built into the rocks with steps and a shallower end and a viewpoint offering 360 degree views.

Eating & Sleeping
Chefs are used to catering to children of all ages and dietary needs and with advance warning mealtimes are flexible to suit. Children are offered the standard meals or the chefs can tailor make food according to the children’s tastes. If there are specific dietary requirements please request in advance to allow the kitchen to make the necessary purchases and plan the menu. There is no formal childcare available at Camp Kipwe so parents must be responsible for their children at all times.

Wildlife & Activities
Activities at Camp Kipwe include nature drives that give you the chance of seeing the desert-adapted elephants in the dry season, and excursions to the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein.

Specifically for children …
