Cliff Lodge
Cliff Lodge is a small seafront guest house offering bed and breakfast accommodation. Located in the small coastal village of De Kelders, between the towns of Hermanus and Gansbaai in South Africa’s Western Cape, it is in the heart of South Africa’s famous whale watching region – with spectacular viewing opportunities between July and November each year. Cliff Lodge commands a prime location on the edge of a cliff (hence the name) providing guests with spectacular views and the opportunity of watching whales and other marine creatures from the comfort of the lodge. Children from ten years are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
Guests at the lodge are looked after by owners Gideaon and Gill who are immaculate hosts. Accommodation at Cliff Lodge comprises five individually decorated stylish en-suite rooms. Each room comes equipped with a television, mini bar and other comforts. There is a communal guest sitting room as well as an all weather viewing deck with 180 degree views of the ocean. An ocean front swimming pool and sandstone pool deck with comfortable loungers completes the facilities.
The Ocean Suite has a day bed in the lounge area for a single child but the best option for families is Cliff Lodge Cottage. Next door to the main lodge, this three bedroom cottage is available for exclusive use only. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and deck with sweeping views of Walker Bay. To the rear of the cottage are two bedrooms (without sea views) that share a bathroom and can be configured as kingsize or twin bed rooms. In addition there is a lounge, kitchen and large deck with outdoor dining facilities. There is a path through the garden linking the cottage to the lodge so guests can use the lodge pool. The cottage is fully serviced and guests have the option of self catering or B&B. Maximum occupancy is six people.
Eating & Sleeping
The extensive buffet and hot breakfast caters for all ages and tastes. There are no formal childcare facilities so parents need to be responsible for their children at all times.
Wildlife & Activities
From the lodge guests can explore the coast and whale watch on foot as well as arrange and pay for other activities on offer including shark cage diving, horse riding, “FAT” bike tours and wine tasting in the Overberg Vineyards.
