Como Maalifushi
COMO Maalifushi is the first luxury resort in the Maldives to open in the pristine Thaa Atol in the archipelago’s south west. The island is accessible by a 60 minute seaplane transfer from Malé airport. Children of all ages are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
The resort comprises a mix of 65 land and over-water suites and villas. Beautifully constructed from pine and thatch, all the rooms have floor to ceiling windows which open onto substantial decks. The décor is light and airy, bringing the sea, sand and sky into the heart of every room. Garden rooms are spread through the resort garden while beach suites, which come in various room configurations, have direct access to the sea, some with their own pools. The over-water suites and villas are built off wooden walkways that stand above the shallow lagoon, and each has pool and private terrace with direct sea access.
The one-bedroom suites/villas can accommodate one extra bed and a baby cot. The two bedroom categories can accommodate two extra beds and cots. All the villa categories have a large living area separated from the bedroom by a door. For larger families there are two-bedroom suites and villas both over-water and on land. The Maalifushi Beach Villa is the largest of the two bedroomed villas with two large double bedrooms and plentiful living and dining areas, private pool and sundeck. Finally the two storey Como Residence offers four bedrooms; two double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms sleeping a maximum of 12 people including extra beds.
There are three restaurants offering everything from sophisticated Japanese dishes to delicious pizzas. Madi and Thila restaurants are located by the main communal pool which has a shallow area for children.
Eating & Sleeping
Thila pool bar is laid back and the most family friendly restaurant. Open every day from 11am – 11pm it offers salads, seafood and pizza. Madi is the main restaurant open from 7am – 10pm and boasts a range of local, Mediterranean and international dishes served from breakfast to dinner. Children’s menus featuring nursery favourites such as pasta, rice and beef burgers are available in the restaurants and 24 hour in room dining.
Babysitting is offered in house at the complimentary kids club – Play by COMO where parents can leave children 4 to 11 years with the PLAY attendants. Children under four years should be accompanied by a babysitter or a parent. Babysitting outside of the kids club is also available and is chargeable at approx. US$20 per child per hour.
Activities
There is an excellent dive and water sports centre offering a range of motorised and non-motorised activities including snorkelling, sailing, dolphin watching and sunset cruises. COMO Shambhala Retreat is the peaceful spa. Set over the water with views across the Indian Ocean, it is a great place to enjoy a pampering treatment or take a yoga class.
Specifically for children ….
The complimentary kids club PLAY by COMO is open every day from 9am – 6pm to children from 4 – 11 years. Children under four years are also welcome provided they are accompanied by a babysitter/parent. Daily themed active and creative activities are scheduled for children including nature, culture, arts and crafts and adventure. In addition there are excursions aimed at children and families including an aqua safari with resident marine biologist, dolphin cruise and learn to surf available at an additional cost. Age appropriate kit is available including bicycles and life jackets.
