Daka Plains Camp

Daka Plains Camp has a wonderfully remote location on a private concession in the northwest corner of Hwange National Park, not far from Zimbabwe’s border with Botswana. Perched on top of a low hill, the camp has fantastic views over many miles of this vast landscape, and of the springs that the form the source of the Deka River on the plains below it.

Accommodation & Facilities
Daka Plains Camp has eight rooms on solid bases with canvas walls, thatched roofs, en-suite bathrooms built from stone and large, shaded verandahs. The rooms have fans and charging points, and the bathrooms have inside showers and flush loos. The camp has a lovely stone and thatch central lodge with a dining room, bar and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. Outside, the spacious viewing deck has a firepit and a small pool.

Wildlife & Activities
The fertile plains around Daka Plains Camp provide excellent habitat for a variety of wildlife, much of which regularly visits the springs for water. Notable sightings include large herds of elephant and buffalo, several lion prides, and cheetah and wild dog. This area is also noted for large numbers of giraffe, and good numbers of sable and roan antelope and eland. The activities offered here include day and night wildlife drives in open vehicles and walking safaris. Thanks to the remote location, guests are unlikely to see any other vehicles during a stay here.
