Elephant Camp

Elephant Camp is a tented camp set on a hillside in its own private concession overlooking the Batoka Gorge and the spray from the Victoria Falls. The camp is located just ten minutes from the Falls. Children from seven years are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Each of 12 luxuriously appointed tents at Elephant Camp has a large en-suite bathroom, outside shower, fan, air conditioning, sitting room, private verandah and plunge pools with superb views over the gorge.  There are two family tents available which are suitable for two adults and two children (aged seven to 16 years). The tents are all built on a timber deck and are furnished in a classic safari style. The camp has a big main building which comprises a bar, lounge and dining room under canvas. There is also a child friendly pool with fabulous views of the gorge.

Eating & Sleeping
The chefs are happy to prepare any foods that children enjoy and will discuss children’s dietary preferences with parents on arrival. If there are any specific dietary requests, please advise prior to travel. There are no formal childcare services available so parents must be responsible for their children at all times.

Wildlife & Activities
Guests can enjoy the magnificent views or alternatively enjoy the many adventure activities on offer in Victoria Falls itself. During a stay at the Elephant Camp all guests have the opportunity to meet the Wild Horizons elephants. This special interaction enables guests to get up close and personal with the elephants, photograph them at close proximity, touch and feed them. In addition to the elephants there is also a resident cheetah “Sylvester” who was orphaned as a cub and cared for by the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust nearby.

Specifically for children …
• Animal encounters with Wild Horizon Elephants and Sylvester the cheetah.
• The Victoria Falls Canopy Tour – hugely popular with children this offers a network of slides, zip wires, trails and rope bridge walkways within the canopy of the hardwood forest of the Zambezi gorges. There is no age restriction but at the managements discretion children may be required to travel in a double harness with an adult.
• Mountain biking.
• Village tours.
