Gibb’s Farm

Gibb’s Farm, perfectly situated half way between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater, is an original colonial farmhouse built in 1929, set within a working African farm and overlooking a long-established coffee plantation. The terraced gardens have fantastic views of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment, and the lodge is tucked into the edge of the forests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Accommodation & Facilities

Each of the 17 farm cottages at Gibb’s Farm has its own secluded flower garden, a spacious interior, ensuite bathroom, a fireplace, panoramic views of the farm and gardens, and a private verandah. Two family houses with two en-suite bedrooms and a sitting room, and inside and outside showers, can be configured to take families of up to six people. The houses also overlook the stunning grounds. The dining room offers delicious meals, mostly prepared from home-grown ingredients. Meals can also be eaten on the terrace, which has beautiful views of the adjacent forest and farmland. There is a 25 metre pool in the gardens, and the lodge has a spa. An ‘artist in residence’ creates wonderful original works, and there are numerous original works of art for guests to enjoy or buy in the gallery.

Wildlife & Activities

Guests at Gibb’s Farm can wander through extensive floral and medicinal gardens, the private forest reserve or the 30 acres of farmland. Mountain biking, village walks, farm tours, helping with farm chores, and walks to the Crater rim can be arranged. Gibb’s Farm is an excellent base for venturing further afield on a day trip to Lake Manyara, Lake Eyasi, and the Ngorongoro Crater.
