Gibb’s Farm
Gibb’s Farm, perfectly situated for safaris being half way between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater, is an 80-year-old farmhouse. Set within the heart of a working African farm, the lodge overlooks the established coffee plantation. Terraced gardens have phenomenal views over the Great Rift Valley, and the expansive grounds open onto the forests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. All ages are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
Each of the 17 farm cottages and two houses at Gibb’s Farm nestles in a secluded garden. The interiors have been recently refurbished and comprise en-suite facilities, fireplace, outdoor shower and a private verandah. The cottages and the two houses are fabulous for families and many of the cottages are in close proximity allowing for families and friends to be close together. The cottages comfortably sleep a family of four in twin queen beds. An additional bed can be added for a third child under the age of 17. Five children can also share a cottage with parents in a neighboring cottage.
The houses can accommodate a maximum of four adults or two adults in a king size bed and four children in twin queen beds.
The dining room offers delicious, simple fare grown and harvested from the gardens. A swimming pool is under construction and due to open in 2019.
Eating & Sleeping
The chefs are as flexible as possible with regards to meal times and with a bit of notice can accommodate separate sittings for children. A children’s menu is available. Childminding can be arranged with advance notice (additional costs apply) and is usually carried out by one of the housekeeping ladies.
Wildlife & Activities
Guests can wander through extensive floral and medicinal gardens, the private forest reserve or explore the 30 acres of farmland and a host of activities at the lodge. It’s also possible to explore further afield on a safari day trip to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater.
