Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge

In the shade of an evergreen forest, set on an oxbow lake close to the seasonal Grumeti River, from which it takes its name, Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge is in the Western Corridor of Tanzania’s iconic Serengeti National Park.

Accommodation & Facilities
Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge has ten huge suites which are set a little way back from the water’s edge, whilst the dining and lounge area look directly over it and its hippo pools. Designed to let plenty of natural light in, the lavishly decorated rooms have sliding fronts, en-suite bathrooms with a bath and inside and outside showers, and large decks with private plunge pools. One suite is ideal for families, with a smaller second bedroom sharing the bathroom, and a shared lounge. The main lodge is big and open sided, and features a circular bar, a lounge, and an interactive kitchen, and is furnished in a sophisticated fashion with colours that complement the surroundings. Guests can also make use of the gym and arrange for massages.

Wildlife & Activities
The Western Corridor has excellent resident wildlife, which can be enjoyed during drives in open safari vehicles from Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge. The wildebeest migration moves through the area between March and July on its way from the calving areas to Kenya’s Masai Mara. Troops of colobus monkeys live in the surrounding forest and families of hippos wallow in the pools directly in front of the lodge. Guests can also enjoy a day trip to Lake Victoria, or a take an early morning balloon flight for an additional charge.
