Kiba Point

Kiba Point is a lovely exclusive use property situated on an outcrop of rock overlooking the Rufiji River in Tanzania’s Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), part of the largest protected area in Africa.  The reserve itself has a very small number of camps set miles apart. Children from five years are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
The camp is exclusive and taken on a private basis only. It can accommodate up to 10 people in four open-fronted large stone and thatch en-suite rooms, each with a private plunge pool. One of these rooms is a family suite with children’s annex and can sleep up to four. There is a large communal area with a dining room, bar and plunge pool.

Eating & Sleeping
The chefs are happy to prepare children’s meals (e.g. pizza, hamburgers, chicken strips, etc.) at times to suit and will discuss children’s dietary preferences with parents on arrival. If there are any specific dietary requests, please advise prior to travel. There are no formal childcare facilities so parents must be responsible for their children at all times.

Wildlife & Activities
Wildlife viewing in the area around camp is excellent and guests can choose from walking safaris, boat trips or wildlife drives in an open vehicle. There is also the opportunity to book a fly camping walking trip in advance. As well as large numbers of predators and prey, the opportunity to see packs of wild dog is a particular highlight of this area.

Specifically for children …
Activities are planned with the family and will be discussed between the guides, management and guests when they arrive in camp.
• There is lots to explore on short walks around the camp and children 12 years and above can accompany parents on bush walks and fly camping trips
• Boat safaris
• Fishing
• Visits to the hot springs
