Kichwa Tembo is located on a private concession on the west border of Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. Standing at the base of the Oloololo escarpment, the camp has a beautiful outlook down to the forested banks of the Mara River and over the plains of the Masai Mara beyond it.
Accommodation & Facilities
Kichwa Tembo is a tented camp with 40 smart and spacious safari tents, each with an en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower, basin and flushing loo. Three of the superior tents are set up for families, with two en-suite bedrooms connected by a covered corridor. Some tents have wonderful ‘front-row’ views of the Masai Mara, while the others are well spaced out in the gardens. The camp has a split level main building which includes a reception, bar, lounge and dining room, several spaces for sitting and relaxing, and a safari shop. Meals can also be enjoyed outdoors, and there is a good size pool with a fabulous view on the edge of the camp.
Wildlife & Activities
The vast range of wildlife to be seen here includes wildebeest, zebra, elephant, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, lion, cheetah and leopard to name a few. Activities at Kichwa Tembo consist of morning and afternoon safari drives, bird watching and lectures by a Masai naturalist. At an additional cost, guests can also enjoy night drives, guided walks, community visits, sundowners, bush meals, massages and hot air ballooning.
