Letaka Safaris – Savuti

Letaka Safaris operate mobile safaris across the vast expanse of wildlife-rich wilderness in northern Botswana. Using private camp sites in the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Letaka offer guests access to some of the most remote, beautiful, unspoilt and peaceful wildlife habitats in southern Africa. Letaka, which is the Setswana word for a reed, is owned and run by Grant and Brent Reed, who grew up in the bush and know and understand it like few others do.

Accommodation & Facilities
Chobe National Park is the largest in Botswana, and Letaka Safaris use a private campsite in the Savuti region of the park. The camp will be set up before guests arrive, and consists of 4x3m walk-in mini-Meru style tents with open air en-suite bathrooms featuring a safari loo and a bucket shower. The camp also has a dining tent, should it be needed, although meals are mostly eaten outside. Meals are prepared over a camp fire, and there’s always a good supply of cold drinks, tea and coffee, and water to keep thirst at bay.

Wildlife & Activities
The activities offered by Letaka Safaris in the Chobe region include a boat cruise on the Chobe River and wildlife drives in the Savuti region. The boat trip gives guests a wonderful opportunity to get really close to elephant while they cross the river or bath and play in its water, while drives in open vehicles are the ideal way to explore the vast, open grasslands surrounding the Savuti marshes, which is a good place to see the rarer species such as cheetah, leopard, and wild dog. Savuti has numerous prides of lion and large clans of hyena, giving exciting wildlife interactions and excellent wildlife viewing, and is famous for its large population of resident bull elephant, as well as plentiful breeding herds during the wetter months.
