Little Ongava

Little Ongava is set on the spine of a rock kopje in the 30,000 hectare Ongava Game Reserve on the borders of the Etosha National Park which, nearly the size of Switzerland, is one of Africa’s largest game parks. Children from six years are welcome. Younger children can be accommodated if the camp is booked on an exclusive basis.

Accommodation & Facilities
Just six guests are accommodated at the lodge in three luxury suites. Each well-appointed suite is made up of a large bathroom, with indoor and outdoor shower, bedroom and living area. Outside is a private sun deck with a private plunge pool. A raised wooden walkway leads from the suites to the main dining/bar area which has views to the waterhole.
Little Ongava does not have a family tent and children under 16 years are required to share with an adult so parents and children need to be divided between tents accordingly. Subject to availability and upon request a third child’s bed can be added to a tent if required.

Eating & Sleeping
Chefs are very used to catering to children of all ages. If there are specific dietary requirements please request in advance to allow the kitchen to make the necessary purchases and plan the menu. Babysitting is not available so parents need to be responsible for their children at all times.

Wildlife & Activities
Typically morning activities from Little Ongava are game viewing in Etosha National Park whilst afternoons are spent on the reserve. Night drives and walks can also be arranged on the Ongava reserve. Tracking rhino on foot is a highlight at the lodge (minimum age 16 years). Guests can experience a wide variety of game including elephant, lion, leopard, black rhino, springbok, gemsbok and hartebeest. Birdlife around waterholes close to Little Ongava is also good with 340 recorded species including ostrich, pygmy falcon and all the raptors in abundance.

Specifically for children …
Although Little Ongava warmly welcomes children from six years, the camp does not offer specific activities for children. That said, the guides are dedicated to giving young guests the best experience possible by providing variety and adjusting activities to suit attention spans.
