Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp

Loisaba Tented Camp sits on the edge of the Laikipia escarpment, on the border of Kenya’s Northern Territories, in a 56,000 acre private wildlife sanctuary. The camp’s spectacular setting overlooks a waterhole and miles of rugged wilderness. On a clear day you are also able to view Mount Kenya. It is an important elephant haven and one of the best places to see wild dog. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Loisaba’s 12 spacious and airy tents are custom-built with large floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, high ceilings and polished wood floors. The tent suites are adorned in chic African furniture with a modern European twist. The camp has a lounge and dining area and the child-friendly infinity pool enjoys an incredible view.

For those looking for a private experience there is a nearby private camp with three tents, a bar area and its own pool. Of the 12 tents at Loisaba, three are family tents. There are different tent configurations to suit families of different ages.  Tent one is very spacious and can fit a double bed and two twin beds suitable for parents who want to sleep in close proximity to their children.  Tents three & four, and tents five & six are conveniently located close to the main area. Each pair has one double bed and one twin bedroom connected together by a raised wooden deck.  Tent ten (one double), 11 (one double), and 12 (one twin) are connected by a wooden deck and share an infinity pool so are suitable for larger family groups.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meal times. The chef is happy to discuss the children’s preference on arrival and provide accordingly. Specific dietary requests can be accommodated with prior notice.   A babysitting service is available upon request.

Wildlife & Activities
Loisaba is home to wild dog, leopard, buffalo, hippo, lion and elephant.  Activities on offer include quad biking (at extra cost), fishing, mountain biking, horse riding and camel riding, walking, day and night game drives, bush meals, visits to the anti-poaching dog team, and river rafting if the water level allows.  For those looking to sleep under the stars, Loisaba also offers guests the chance to sleep out on platforms at their ‘Star Beds’, hosted by local Masai.
