Madikwe Hills

Close to South Africa’s border with Botswana, Madikwe Game Reserve is a large malaria free protected area north west of Johannesburg. Within this reserve Madikwe Hills is a stylish, elegant lodge set in a large kopje amongst boulders and tamboti trees, with excellent views of the surrounding area.

Accommodation & Facilities
Madikwe Hills’ main lodge has ten spacious, glass fronted suites which are built into a rocky kopje, each with a fantastic view over the surrounding bush. Every suite has a private verandah with a plunge pool, air-conditioning, overhead fans, under-floor heating and a fireplace. There is a water hole in front of the main public area, which attracts game, including elephants, throughout the day. The facilities of this beautiful property include a swimming pool, gym, library and a spa. Little Madikwe is a two’bedroomed private lodge adjacent to but a little below Madikwe Hills, and can be taken on an exclusive basis. It has a private kitchen complete with chef, private guide, sitting room, verandah and swimming pool, so guests at Little Madikwe can be completely independent, yet close enough to the main lodge to use facilities such as the spa and gym.

Wildlife & Activities
Guests staying at Madikwe Hills can enjoy day and afternoon game drives in the company of expert guides, as well as walking safaris*.  The reserve’s varied habitats house a variety of game including lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo as well as cheetah, a variety of antelope and, sometimes, wild dog.
