Mara Nyika Camp

Mara Nyika Camp has a secluded and well-shaded location by a stream in the Naboisho Conservancy, adjacent to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Naboisho Conservancy is 50,000 acres of prime wildlife country owned by the local Masai people, with a lovely mix of acacia woodland, grass plains, hills and river valleys. The minimum age at Mara Nyika is 8 years old, and walking safaris and horse riding have an age restriction of 12 years.

Accommodation & Facilities
Mara Nyika Camp is set on raised decks in the shade of large fever trees, to allow the stream to meander below it, and has just five tents connected to the mess tent by elevated walkways. The family tents comprise two en-suite tents, one with a shower and the other with a bath, and can accommodate up to five. The two family tents each have a private vehicle and guide. The three standard tents have just one bedroom, and consist of three individual interconnecting tents: the first is the entrance and lounge, which also has access to the outside deck at the front. The middle section is the bedroom, and the final part is the bathroom, which has a shower, bath and flush loo. The camp has a centrally located mess tent comprising a dining room, lounge and bar, with a large outside deck featuring a campfire.

Eating & Sleeping
Eating arrangements are flexible in camp and staff are happy to organise separate meal times and menus to suit. There is no babysitting or listening service so parents need to be responsible for the supervision of their children. However, private meals can be arranged outside on the tent deck while children sleep inside.

Wildlife & Activities
Naboisho Conservancy has excellent resident wildlife, which includes large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, lion, hyena, and leopard. Day and night wildlife drives, walking safaris, and visits to the local Masai communities are on offer at Mara Nyika Camp, along with hot-air balloon flights at an additional cost. Each tent has a professional DSLR camera with zoom lenses, and a pair of high quality binoculars.

Specifically for children …
The family friendly guides have plenty of experience engaging with children and will happily organise activities such as:
• Making fires
• Learning about tacks and signs
• Making arrows and targets
