Migration Expeditions

Migration Expeditions Camp is located in Nxai Pan National Park, part of the Makgadikgadi Pans on the edge of the Kalahari Desert. This open landscape is enhanced by many large acacia trees, and the magnificent and ancient Baines Baobabs, which overlook a spring fed waterhole in the south of the park.

Accommodation & Facilities
Migration Expeditions is an authentic seasonal safari camp with just six spacious tents, each with an al-fresco en-suite bathroom with a flush loo and a bucket shower, and a sleep-out gazebo section made of mosquito netting. The tents have simple but smart furnishings, and offer great comfort. The camp also has two mess tents, one with a library and comfortable sofas. The other is the dining room, and also houses the open kitchen where meals are cooked over a camp fire.

Wildlife & Activities
There is plentiful resident wildlife in the Nxai Pan National Park which is mainly desert adapted species such as springbok, gemsbok, ostrich and brown hyena. During the summer (November – March), thousands of zebra migrate from the Chobe river to Nxai Pan, Africa’s longest migration, and in addition to these big herds the population is swelled by elephant, zebra, eland, giraffe and wildebeest arriving from the Okavango Delta. The predators follow these migrants and large prides of lion are often seen, as well as cheetah. Wildlife viewing at Nxai Pan Camp is done mostly by vehicle but walks and visits to Baines Baobabs, a cluster of ancient baobab trees, are also available.
