Mkombe’s House

Mkombe’s House is a private exclusive use safari house built around the rocks of the Kogakuria Kopje, close to Lamai Serengeti, in the far north of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Blessed with stunning views stretching out to Kenya’s Masai Mara in the distance, the house is ideal for a family or a group of friends looking for a very personal safari experience. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
There are four bedrooms at Mkombe’s House; two double or twin en-suite bedrooms each with its own secure en-suite children’s room which allows up to four adults and six children, of any age, to stay in comfort and complete exclusivity. There is a child-friendly paddling pool and a deeper, fenced, adult pool.

Eating & Sleeping
Each day meals can be planned with the chef allowing for lots of flexibility and plenty of choice and enjoyed in the private dining room or outside on one of the many alfresco spaces with views over the plains. As an exclusive use property, timings of meals and wildlife activities are completely up to you. High chairs are available.

Wildlife & Facilities
If you can tear yourself away from the house you’ll find the wildlife viewing rewarding throughout the year with sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, buffalo and elephant all likely. Between July and October, although varying year to year, this area hosts the wildebeest migration as hundreds of thousands of wildebeest migrate north accompanied by similar numbers of zebra. The Mara River is not far away, so for those wishing to witness a famous ‘crossing’ Mkombe’s House is an ideal base.

Specifically for children …
Activities are planned with the family when they arrive into camp. There are several activities that are tailored for children and the staff enjoying thinking of lots of ways to keep the kids interested and engaged for instance kids are welcome to help the chef bake biscuits and make pizzas in the kitchen.
