Mnemba

Mnemba is a private island, which lies two kilometres north-east of the island of Zanzibar, just a short cruise in a motor boat. A pristine swathe of beach surrounds the island and the magnificent coral reef supports giant turtles and Ghost Crabs. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Mnemba Island comprises just 12 beach-side bandas, each bordered on three sides by tropical forest and overlooking the beach and coral reef.  Families are accommodated in two bandas situated in close proximity to each other. The maximum capacity is two adults and two children. The cottages have been been hand-woven and thatched from tree branches and traditional Zanzibari palm-matting. A palm-covered walkway leads to the en-suite bathroom and each cottage has a spacious outdoor verandah. The cottages are situated either side of the main living area where there is a dining area and adjoining lounge and bar. These areas have an open view of the beach and coral reefs beyond.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meals at times to suit. There is a children’s menu and chefs are happy to prepare foods that children enjoy on request. Specific dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice. Childminders are available but must be booked on the day of arrival. A rate of USD 5 per hour is payable directly at the lodge.
