Mombo Camp

The Mombo concession in the Moremi Game Reserve is considered to be one of the finest wildlife habitats in Africa. Peacefully remote in the north west tip of Chief’s Island, the concession is surrounded by floodplains and seasonal waterways, and wildlife viewing is superb year round. Mombo has a prime position beneath a canopy of shady trees, with great views of the wildlife filled plain in front of camp.

Accommodation & Facilities
The main camp at Mombo accommodates 16 people in eight superb canvas walled rooms built above ground and linked by board walks. The rooms are enormous, and have cooling over the beds, a lounge, an en-suite bathroom with inside and outside showers, and a spacious private deck with a shaded day bed and a plunge pool. The decoration in each room has been well designed and the view from the bed, verandah or the pool deck across the plain is breath-taking. The bar and dining area also enjoy a wonderful view with a spotlight on the deck in front of the dining room picking out predators crossing in front at night. The camp has a library, gym and spa, and an outside campfire.

Wildlife & Activities
Mombo is renowned for its excellent wildlife viewing, and is particularly known for predator sightings. Lion, leopard, hyena, and wild dog might be seen, in addition to many elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lechwe and waterbuck. Drives in specially adapted open safari vehicles offer guests superb close up sightings, and the birding watching is also excellent. As the area has been protected for so long and the area is so fertile, wildlife numbers are high and animals are very relaxed around people and vehicles.
