Morukuru Owner's House

Morukuru Owner’s House is located on a 3,500 hectare private concession inside the Madikwe Game Reserve: the Owner’s House is set on one side of the Marico River and looks across at Madikwe Reserve that starts on the other bank. Madikwe Game Reserve is not far from the Botswana border in north-west South Africa and the area is malaria free. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
With two en-suite bedrooms, Morukuru Owner’s House is ideal for a family.  Generally, maximum occupancy is four guests, but an extra child’s bed can be added to each bedroom if required.  Shaded by large trees and accessed across a bridge from the parking area, the fully air-conditioned Owner’s House has a large central lounge, dining room, library, and wine cellar. The decorations are fabulously stylish and luxurious, with plenty of rich fabrics and colours. Each room has a king size bed, ceiling fans, an en-suite bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower, and there’s also an outside bath on the deck overlooking the river. The house has a team of eight staff including chef and private guide (and vehicle), a tree-top sala, and a boma for eating meals outside. There is a 14 metre pool which is heated (to 25˚C) and is child friendly with steps and a shallow end but not fenced or netted so parents need to be responsible for children at all times. A safe, tv, dvd players, complimentary Wi-Fi and lots of family games, and great food prepared in the house’s kitchen are all included.

Morukuru Owner’s House, while completely private, can be combined with River House which is within walking distance and ideal for shared gatherings.

Eating & Sleeping
As it is an exclusive use property, guests can dictate when they would like to eat and children can have separate meal times. Guests can complete a wishlist before arrival, indicating any food / drinks preferences or dislikes and specific dietary requirements allowing the kitchen to make the necessary purchases and plan the menu. A complimentary babysitting service is provided by a staff member – usually it is one of the housekeeping ladies.

Wildlife & Activities
Activities at Morukuru Owner’s House include day and night game drives with your private guide and vehicle, walking safaris, fishing, bird-watching, helping in the kitchen, bush meals, and the use of the viewing hide. . Massages and visits to local communities can also be arranged.

Specifically for children…
Activities are tailor made for each family according to their needs and preferences. Children are especially well catered for with numerous spontaneous activities to keep them entertained. There are no age restrictions for game-drives and children of all ages can join in. Booster seats for the game drive vehicle can be provided if required. Other activities include:

• Baking cakes and pizzas.
• Board games.
