Mountain Gorilla View Lodge
Mountain Gorilla View Lodge on the edge of the Parc National des Volcans in north western Rwanda, is set on the slopes of Mount Sabyinyo (part of the Virunga volcano range) with fabulous views of the surrounding area.
Accommodation & Facilities
Accommodation comprises 25 individual stone cottages, six of which are suites. Each of the simply, but comfortably decorated cottages have en-suite facilities, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone and hairdryer. There is also a fireplace and verandah overlooking the lawns of the property. The main lodge houses a central building with reception, bar, dining room and tv room.
Wildlife & Activities
The lodge is a 15 minute drive from the national park headquarters at Kinigi making it a perfect base for gorilla tracking in the rainforests of the Virunga volcanoes which are the last refuge of the mountain gorilla and where Dian Fossey did her groundbreaking studies into mountain gorillas. While most people come to this area to see the gorillas it is also possible to track golden monkeys, take nature walks, climb the volcanoes, and visit Dian Fossey’s grave. Some of these activities are only possible in the morning so please discuss your wishes with your guide as soon as you arrive.
