Ngare Serian
Ngare Serian is tucked away in a secluded valley deep in the North Mara Reserve. The camp is perched on the banks of the Mara River and is reached by a rope bridge over the river. Ngare Serian, is the sister camp to the neighbouring Serian ‘The Original’. The adjacent area is filled with wildlife and is excellent for both game drives and guided walks. Children of all ages are welcome at Ngare Serian.
Accommodation & Facilities
Accommodation is in four spacious en-suite tents, each set on a raised polished hard wood deck with views out over the river. There are no family tents but extra beds can be added to accommodate children in the same tent as their parents. The tents are stylishly designed and are complete with a four poster bed and a sofa to relax on. The bathrooms are luxurious, with a sunken bath, a separate open air shower, twin basins and a flush toilet. There is also an attractive communal dining and sitting/reading area. The intimate nature of the camp lends itself well to families or groups of friends wanting to book the camp exclusively.
Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meal times and although there is no children’s menu the chef will try and accommodate specific requests with a little prior notice. If parents would like to eat later, an Askari (night watchmen) can sit outside the tent to listen in case a child should wake. A nanny can be arranged for an additional fee.
Wildlife & Activities
Activities on offer include day and night drives on the Mara North Conservancy with a private vehicle and guide, river fishing and guided walks within the camp’s exclusive 4,000 acre private concession, as well as hikes and sleep-outs at the tree-house. There is also the opportunity to eat and sleep under the stars at a nearby ‘fly camp’.
