Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area in Tanzania is one of the natural wonders of the world and one of the most spectacular calderas on the planet. Its six mountain peaks are constantly in view and sightings of the big five – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard – are frequent. The plains and swamps teem with game and an enormous variety of birds. The conservation area is also home to Masai people and their cattle which co-exist with the wildlife in a unique ecosystem. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is perched on the actual crater rim providing perfect views of the crater below. It is difficult to describe as a place but breathtaking would be a fitting adjective. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the staff excellent. It is regarded as one of Africa’s finest and most unique lodges. It is made up of three camps, two with 12 suites each and the Tree Camp which has just six suites. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and the design is baroque chateau meets Masai “manyatta” or homestead. Each camp has its own sitting and dining areas, and the suites at the Tree Camp all have a private deck and lounge with an open fireplace.

The family suite consists of two suites conveniently interlinked via a closed walkway, which allows access between the suites, while maintaining complete privacy. The bedrooms, sitting rooms and en-suite bathrooms boast floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the magnificent Crater below. The family suite can accommodate two adults and two children and there is space for an additional child’s bed on request.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meal times. The chef is happy to discuss the children’s preference on your arrival and provide accordingly. Specific dietary requests can be accommodated with prior notice. Babysitting is available and provided by the housekeeping staff at US$5/hour to be booked on arrival at the lodge.

Wildlife & Activities
Whilst here, you can go on safari along the crater floor which teems with game year round. Alternatively you can visit Olduvai Gorge where some of the oldest remains of ancient man can be found.
