Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge has a beautiful setting on a ridge in western Uganda, overlooking the western side of Bwindi Impenatrable Forest, and the Virguna Volcanoes straddling the border with Rwanda and Congo in the distance.

Accommodation & Facilities
Nkuringo Lodge has 16 rooms, eight of which are in individual cottages. The other eight rooms are pairs of interleading rooms, which can accommodate up to six guests and are ideal for families. The rooms all have en-suite bathrooms, verandahs with wonderful views, a sitting are with a fireplace, and extra long beds. The rooms are built mostly using locally sourced materials, and have corrugated iron roofs to help the lodge harvest rainwater. The main lodge has a cozy dining room, a bar, a coffee shop, inside and outside lounges, and a massage room.

Wildlife & Activities
The main focus of a stay at Bwindi is naturally tracking the endangered mountain gorillas, and more than half of the habituated families can be accessed from Nkuringo. The bird watching here is excellent too, and guided forest walks are a good way to see more after tracking gorillas. In addition, visits to the local Batwa community, walks through local villages, dug out canoe trips on a nearby lake, and a longer walk through the forest to Buhoma on the northern side can all be arranged at the lodge.
