Nkwali

Nkwali Camp has a beautiful setting beside the Luangwa River just opposite the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, surrounded by open grassland and quiet ebony groves. Just 45 minutes from the airstrip, Nkwali is an ideal place to start a safari in this area.

Accommodation & Facilities
Nkwali is run by Robin Pope Safaris and is a small comfortable exclusive camp catering for just twelve guests at any one time. The spacious guest rooms are constructed from woven bamboo and thatch with open-air bathrooms. Each room has an open front and a big shaded verandah with great views of the river and the Park beyond. The camp has a lovely open sided bar and dining room, and a thatched outside dining area close to the lagoon and the pool. There is also a big viewing deck built out over the edge of the river, offering great views into the Park across the water. From the camp access to the park is by pontoon boat and vehicle.

Wildlife & Activities
The South Luangwa National Park has the highest concentration of hippo and crocodile in Africa as well as a good diversity of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and wildebeest. It is regarded as a very good place to see leopard as well as lion and hyena, and wild dog are often seen too. The birdlife in this part of Zambia is excellent as well. While at Nkwali guests can explore the park on foot or by vehicle on day and night wildlife drives.
