Nsefu

Nsefu Camp is the oldest safari camp in Zambia and is situated in the Luangwa National Park. It was completely rebuilt by Robin Pope Safaris in 1998 using the original foundations of Norman Carr’s famous camp. The camp has a remote and peaceful setting in the Nsefu sector, right beside the Luangwa River.

Accommodation & Facilities

The accommodation here is in six comfortable thatched cottages, all with en-suite bathrooms and decorated with understated elegance. The rooms have an ‘evening breeze’ cooling system over the beds, and a shaded verandah outside. The camp itself has wonderful views over the floodplains and water of the Luangwa River from the comfortable armchairs in the lounge and bar, and from the dining room too. The camp also has a photographic hide overlooking its lagoon.

Wildlife & Activities

The South Luangwa National Park has the highest concentration of hippo and crocodile in Africa, as well as a good diversity of other wildlife. It is regarded as a very good place to see leopard as well as lion, elephant and large herds of buffalo. The Nsefu sector is rich in wildlife, and daily walks and night and day drives with bush picnics are all brilliant activities to enjoy in this area. A hide overlooking the lagoon allows guests to watch the wildlife drawn to the waterhole at their leisure.
