Time + Tide Nsolo

Time + Tide Nsolo is one of Time +Tide Africas’ remote seasonal bush camps in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park.. Children 12 years and older are welcome although younger children may be accepted with prior agreement.

Accommodation & Facilities
Nsolo, which is the local name for the honey guide bird, consists of five very spacious thatched-roofed chalets set on raised wooden platforms overlooking a bend in the Luwi sand river. Each is individually designed and has its own private verandah. Each of the open fronted rooms has an en suite open air bathroom and a private verandah over looking the surrounding bush. There is a thatched chitenje with bar and dining area offering a peaceful refuge where guests can study the collection of books or view a variety of game at the waterhole.

Eating & Sleeping
The chefs are happy to prepare any foods that children enjoy (e.g. pizza, hamburgers, chicken strips, etc.) and will discuss children’s dietary preferences with parents on arrival. If there are any specific dietary requests please advise prior to travel.  There are no babysitting or childcare facilities and the camp is unfenced in a dense wildlife area so children must be closely supervised at all times.

Wildlife & Activities
During a stay here guests can choose from vehicle based day and night game drives, as well as guided bush walks. The South Luangwa National Park has a great diversity of wildlife and is regarded as a very good place to see leopard as well as lion. Nsolo combines well with the other three Norman Carr bush camps in South Luangwa as part of a walking safari itinerary. For an even greater sense of wilderness, guests can enjoy the ‘Return to the Wild’ sleep-out experience which is available at a supplementary cost and is a superb way to enjoy the African bush.

Specifically for children….
All the guides are child friendly and enjoy inspiring the next generation of world travellers and conservationists.
There are several activities that are tailored for children including:
• Children 12 years plus can accompany parents on bush walks. Younger children can experience a child orientated ‘poo’ walk where they can learn about all the fun and weird parts of nature.
• Sleepout under the stars – fall asleep under a canopy of a million twinkling stars, listening to the sounds of the night-time bush. A cosy tent, bush loo, culinary team and night watchman ensure that this experience is as comfortable as it is memorable. (Minimum age eight years, at the guide’s discretion). At an additional cost of $275 per person and pre-booking required.
• Visit to the Yosefe School in Mfuwe, depending on flight timings.  (The school is close to the airstrip).
• Fishing – child sized life jackets (10 years plus) and fishing equipment available.
