Ongava Tented Camp

Ongava Tented Camp is set in the 30,000 hectare Ongava Game Reserve on the borders of the Etosha National Park which, nearly the size of Switzerland, is one of Africa’s largest game parks.

Accommodation & Facilities
The camp accommodates only 18 people in eight luxury, en-suite tents each with its own verandah overlooking the waterhole.  The family tent comprises of two identical en-suite bedrooms – one configured as a double and one configured as a twin bedroom set six metres apart and linked by a short curved walkway. Please note that the tents are not physically connected and that you must exit one tent, cross the wooden decking and enter the next tent.  Dinner is served around the camp fire or by the pool.

Eating & Sleeping
All family bookings with children of six to 12 years old (inclusive) must be booked with a private vehicle and guide which allows for maximum flexibility in terms of timings. Children can have separate meal times at times to suit and the chefs are very used to catering to children of all ages. Specific dietary requests can be accommodated with prior notice. Babysitting is not available so parents need to be responsible for their children at all times.

Wildlife & Activities
Mornings are spent game viewing in Etosha and afternoons on the reserve. Night drives and walks can be arranged on the Ongava Reserve and there are some excellent hides for game viewing here too. Guests can experience a wide variety of game including elephant, lion, leopard, black rhino, springbok, gemsbok and hartebeest. Birdlife around waterholes close to Ongava Tented Camp is also good with ostrich, pygmy falcon and all the raptors in abundance. Tracking rhino on foot is a highlight at Ongava (minimum age 16).

Specifically for children …
Although Ongava Tented Camp warmly welcomes children from six years, the camp does not offer specific activities for children. That said, the guides are dedicated to giving young guests the best experience possible by providing variety and adjusting activities to suit attention spans.
