Peponi Hotel

Lamu is an historic and exotic Arabic island, in the Indian Ocean off the coast of northern Kenya. Peponi Hotel, both luxurious and romantic, is located in Shela Village 20 minutes by dhow from the World Heritage site of Lamu Town. Lamu can be reached by flights from Mombasa, Malindi and Nairobi. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Each of the hotel’s 28 rooms enjoys an ocean view and is unique in décor and layout. Guests have a choice of superior or standard rooms. Both have an en-suite bathroom but the superior rooms are differentiated by their location, size and private outside area with swing bed. For families there are superior and standard family rooms that can accommodate a maximum of two adults and two children.

The hotel is renowned for its delicious food and meals include excellent locally caught seafood. The hotel has delightful gardens, a good size swimming pool and many spots where guests can sit and relax, and watch the world go by. The general atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, with your hosts Carol and Andrew attending to your every need.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meals at times to suit and can choose from an extensive children’s menu or choose smaller portions from the a la carte menu. A complimentary listening service is provided in the evenings by the watchman or alternatively baby sitting can be arranged and is provided by local women, pricing by arrangement.

Activities
Just five minutes’ walk from the hotel is an eight mile beach stretching into the distance. Many land and sea based activities are available nearby including historical tours of Lamu Town, sunset Dhow trips, water skiing, deep-sea fishing, excursions by motorboat and snorkelling.

Peponi has been a family hotel for 51 years and owner Carol Korschen raised her own family here so is well tuned to the requirements of families.
