Potato Bush Camp
Potato Bush Camp is a small, luxury bush camp on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Lower Zambezi National Park. The camp, set in a grove of mature trees, has lovely views over the river towards the escarpment in the distance. Children from four years are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are just four en-suite canvas and rosewood safari tents, one of which is a family tent. Each room has a private plunge pool on a large deck and indoor and outdoor showers. The main area has an open-plan dining and lounge area, which is accessed from the rooms via raised timber boardwalks. The family tent has two large bedrooms (a double and a twin) both with en-suite bathrooms connected by a huge open plan living area leading to private deck and plunge pool. Both rooms have doors and are totally sealed at night. Accommodating a family of four, an extra child’s bed can be added to the twin room providing total occupancy of five.
In addition three of the safari tents can also accommodate a family of three (or four on request) with the addition of day beds to the rooms. There is no main swimming pool at Potato Bush Camp, but all four guest rooms have their own private plunge pools. The pools have a small step running around the edge and are safe for children to paddle.
Eating & Sleeping
The chefs are extremely flexible with meal times to suit children and adults. There is a children’s menu offering a variety of choices. For specific dietary requirements please advise prior to travel. All guest rooms are serviced by private butlers (muchindas). A complimentary baby sitting service is provided if parents would like to dine alone at night or go on an activity.
Wildlife & Activities
During a stay at Potato Bush Camp guests can enjoy an assortment of activities including day and night drives, boating on the Zambezi River and fishing. There is excellent wildlife in the area including elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, zebra and leopard as well as a number of plains species.
