Roho ya Selous

Roho ya Selous sits on a small promontory on Lake Nzerakera in Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), part of the largest protected area in Africa, giving it the feeling that it’s on an island. The camp is neatly tucked into the trees, with great views of the lakeshore.

Accommodation & Facilities
Roho ya Selous has eight huge tents, one of which is set up for families. They are well shaded and very private, and have an Evening Breeze cooling system over the beds. The ensuite bathrooms have inside and outside showers, as well as flush loos and a plentiful supply of solar heated hot water. The camp has a spacious mess, with a lounge and dining room, and meals are often eaten in the open, to take advantage of the excellent views and the good weather. Unusually for a tented camp, Roho enjoys the advantage of a swimming pool, which is a welcome benefit in this lowland setting.

Wildlife & Activities
The wildlife to be seen in Nyerere National Park includes lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, crocodile, wildebeest, zebra and wild dog. Bird watching is very rewarding with more than 400 species to be seen. The wildlife viewing activities at Roho ya Selous include drives in open vehicles, walking safaris, fly camping, and boat trips. Catch and release fishing is also offered.
