Ruckomechi Camp

Ruckomechi Camp is in a private concession on the western boundary of Mana Pools National Park in north-east Zimbabwe.  The camp lies in a large shady grove of acacia and mahogany trees overlooking the Zambezi River, with a superb view across the floodplains and the broad river to the Zambian escarpment to the north.

Accommodation & Facilities
The ten luxurious and spacious tents at Ruckomechi Camp have en-suite bathrooms with flush loos and solar heated showers. There are two family tents with two bedrooms, and there is an outside bath in a private spot which is available for any guest to use. The camp has separate dining and lounge areas under raised canvas roofs on the river’s edge, facing across the river to the escarpment. A wooden viewing deck provides the perfect place for gazing at the Zambezi River and the mountains, as well as the spectacular night time stars. A small plunge pool is ideal for whiling away the siesta time. Guests can also opt to spend a night in the Star bed, raised on a platform at Parachute Pan.

Wildlife & Activities
Ruckomechi offers many activities, including day and night game drives in 4×4 vehicles, canoe trips, boating and fishing. Walking safaris with an armed guide are a great way to see the concession in close up, and mid-morning wildlife and bird viewing boat trips to the islands are a highlight. Wildlife viewing here is excellent, with lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, eland, and waterbuck seen regularly. Elephants are often in and around the camp, and bird-watching is also very good, thanks to the river attracting large numbers of water birds.
