Serena Inn

Serena Inn is converted from two historic seafront buildings in Zanzibar’s capital, Stone Town. This hotel has kept an aura of charm, and its impressive architecture recalls the island’s former grandeur. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
It is a smart hotel run at good international standards with 51 comfortable rooms, each with its own spectacular sea view, and décor which reflects the island’s rich Arab influence.  Families are accommodated in inter-connecting rooms, of which there are pairs, sleeping up to six people. The en-suite rooms have air conditioning, a mini bar, TV, safe and a hair dryer. The hotel has a great child friendly swimming pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, good restaurants and a relaxed feel.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meal times at times to suit and there is a children’s menu available in the restaurant. Babysitting is available on request and provided by trained hotel staff at a rate of USD20 per hour.

Activities
Serena Inn is an ideal place from which to explore Stone Town, or to take day trips to explore the stunning coastline of this exotic island.

Specifically for children …
There aren’t activities geared specifically towards children but there are plenty of family friendly activities including:
• Explore Stone Town – a perfect spot for souvenir shopping with lots of little shops selling African handicrafts.
• Day trips to Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkeys.
• Visit Prison Island, a haven of giant tortoises and the ruins of the old prison a 30 minute boat ride from Stone Town. Trips may include lunch and snorkelling.
• Sunset dhow trip – hire a traditional wooden sailing boat and take the children out into the Indian Ocean to watch the sunset.
