The Silo Hotel

The Silo Hotel has a superb and commanding harbourfront position on one of the wharfs in Cape Town’s iconic Waterfront. Owned by Liz Biden’s Royal Portfolio, the hotel has been built onto the top of the old grain silos, where the elevators were once housed.

Accommodation & Facilities
The Silo Hotel has 28 rooms in seven categories, including a penthouse, with magnificent views of the city and Table Mountain, thanks to the location, the height, and some remarkable design features which includes ‘pillowed’ windows. The rooms are arrayed over six floors above the silos themselves, which are now the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. Using the existing shape and design of the elevator housing, the hotel rooms have uncommonly high ceilings and windows, and are very light as a result. The hotel and rooms are decorated with Liz Biden’s inimitable flamboyance, creating a wonderful contrast with the industrial architecture of the building. The Silo has the Willaston Bar, the Granary Cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a rooftop terrace where light meals and drinks can be ordered.

Wildlife & Activities
Cape Town is renowned for the variety and quality of its restaurants, and the Silo Hotel is perfectly positioned to take advantage of this. There is also a plethora of great things to do here, such as climbing Table Mountain, visiting Robben Island, Cape Point and Boulders Beach, and also the winelands. Between July and November the coast to the east is also excellent for whale watching.
