Singita Ebony Lodge

Singita is synonymous with exceptional levels of service, guiding and hosting. Singita Private Game Reserve covers 18,000 hectares of private land and is situated in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, on the western border of South Africa’s famous Kruger National Park. With no fencing between the two areas, wildlife is free to move between the reserves. Children of all ages are welcome at Singita Ebony Lodge.

Accommodation & Facilities
Singita Ebony Lodge, the original Singita property, is colonial in style and richly decorated with beautiful furnishings. The 12 luxury air-conditioned suites each have private plunge pool, a sitting room, bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower and a dressing area. Further in-room facilities include a bar, telephone and fireplace. The view from both the main lodge and rooms is over the perennial sand river and the plains beyond. Other facilities at the lodge include a swimming pool, bar, library with internet access, indoor and outdoor dining areas, wine cellar, spa, gym and shop.

There are two family suites which include an en-suite master bedroom and an en-suite twin bedroom as well as a dining and lounge veranda area with a stone fireplace, and a private viewing deck with heated plunge pool. These suites are ideal for families with young children. If taken together, they combine to form the Ebony Villa which comes with a private guide and vehicle, chef, host and waiter. There is a private entrance and outside space. The villa accommodates up to four adults and four children under 12, or up to six adults and teenagers.

Families with teenage children will find the two Lewis suites a good option. These are set next to each other close to the main lodge.

There are steps leading into the pools but there is no netting or any other form of cover so children will need to be supervisedatall times.

Eating & Sleeping
Every aspect of a Singita family safari is individualised, from the most suitable accommodation to meal times and what’s on the menu. It’s a philosophy based on welcoming families, rather than tolerating them. Eating well is central to a memorable safari, especially when taking children into consideration. Thoughtfully put-together snack boxes accompany children on every game drive, providing both diversion and sustenance. In the evening, while parents enjoy an elegant multi-course menu paired to wines from Singita’s extensive cellar, children may request their own mini tasting menu where the emphasis is on fun plating and their favourite flavours. The chefs are well versedatadapting menus to suit children or meeting special requests for homemade burgers or rolling out dough to bake their own pizzas.

Babysitting services are available.

Wildlife & Activities

Other activities on offer here include archery, and this is also a perfect place for those wishing to simply relax and enjoy the beautiful African wilderness.
