Singita Sabora Tented Camp
Singita Sabora Tented Camp is situated on the open Serengeti grasslands of the Singita Grumeti Reserve spanning over 350,000 acres in northern Tanzania. The camp has been designed in a 1920s colonial style and offers guests elegant simplicity and laid-back atmosphere with 360-degree views of the plains that teem with wildlife. Children aged ten years and above are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
The nine lavish Bedouin style tents at Singita Sabora Tented Camp come with four poster beds, intricately carved furniture and evoke the sense of romance and adventure associated with a temporary camp, whilst offering every luxury you can imagine including air-conditioning and wireless broadband. The en-suite bathrooms have huge roll top baths which are complemented by outdoor showers. Each tent has it’s own viewing deck and in the main area of the camp there is a safari shop, swimming pool, library, spa tent and gym tent which complete the guest facilities.
Although there are no specific family tents, six of the tents are arranged in pairs and set on raised on wooden platforms sharing a library, meaning that both tents can be accessed without leaving the safety of the platform. It is possible to add an extra bed to make triple rooms. Please note, these tents are also used for guests who are not families or sharing, so there is still distance and privacy between the two of them.
Eating & Sleeping
Mealtimes are flexible and it is not unusual for children to eat earlier than the rest of their group. A children’s menu is available with dishes including pasta, pizza, chicken fingers, hamburgers, etc. Specific dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
There is no formal childcare at Sabora Tented Camp although if parents wish to dine later than the children there are guards or “askaris” that patrol camp on a regular basis and if requested in advance, can be posted outside the tent. With advance warning camp staff can keep an eye on kids in the main areas if parents want to have a spa treatment for example.
Wildlife & Activities
Game viewing at Singita Sabora is in an open safari vehicle or on foot guided by experienced professional guides. Hot air balloon flights can be arranged at an additional cost for those wishing to have a bird’s eye view of the Serengeti’s vast grassy plains. Walking safaris are possible (aged 16 years and above) but are subject to the availability of guides. It’s advisable to let us know in advance if you would like to do this activity, so that we can pre-book this for you.
