Singita Sweni Lodge
Singita is synonymous with exceptional levels of service, guiding and hosting. Singita Lebombo and Singita Sweni are located in a 15,000 hectare private concession in the eastern central region of the Kruger National Park. Both lodges have breath-taking views over the surrounding pristine bush. Children of all ages are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
Singita Sweni is elevated on stilts and set on the edge of a riverine forest on the banks of the Sweni River. Each of the six spacious en-suite rooms has floor to ceiling glass walls and comprises a living area, an indoor and outdoor shower, private deck, mini bar and air conditioning. Families are best accommodated in the Pool Suite, complete with private swimming pool and shaded river front deck, which can be connected to the adjacent unit to create generous accommodation with two en-suite bedrooms. The Pool Suite with the adjacent unit sleeps four and an extra child’s bed can be added if required. Facilities at the main lodge include an open show kitchen, a comfortable glass walled ‘winter’ lounge, a viewing deck with a fire pit, a bar, swimming pool, gym, spa and wine cellar.
The main lodge and Pool Suite pools are heated depending on the weather and guest preferences. With sufficient notice the pool suite pool can be netted. Both pools have steps and the main lodge pool has a smaller section perfect for younger children.
Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meals and mealtimes. There is a children’s menu and the chef will discuss children’s preferences with the parents on arrival. The camp offers the usual favourites such as pizza, chicken strips, fries, soup, sandwiches, pasta, etc. Baby-sitting services are available.
Wildlife & Activities
Day and night game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, mountain bike safaris, and guided nature walks provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy some of the best wildlife viewing in South Africa, including the Big 5 of leopard, elephant, buffalo, lion and rhino.
Specifically for children …
Activities at the lodge are tailored specifically to suit the interests and desires of each family. In the interest of safety, participation of children in any game activities is at the discretion of their guide. Singita Sweni offers a Mini Rangers’ Course which opens up a whole new world to young explorers. This programme includes tracking, butterfly capture and release (seasonal), astronomy, bush survival techniques, game-spotting competitions, nature quizzes and a Ranger’s Test. Additional activities on offer are:
• Board games, colouring books, paint sets, crayons and pencils.
• Cookie decorating and interactive smores cooking activity.
• Archery.
• Stargazing.
• Guided walking safaris for children 16 years and older.
