Six Senses Laamu

Six Senses Laamu comprises a combination of on-land and over-water villas set around a palm-fringed lagoon. It is the only resort on the Laamu Atoll and is reached via a 35 minute flight and 15 minute speedboat ride. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
The 97 villas have been built from sustainable materials and have spectacular water views. Designed with a minimalist touch to complement the natural beauty of the island they offer privacy, cosiness and luxury. Beach villas come in seven different types and are spread through the lush tropical gardens or directly on the beach front. They all have secluded decks and private beach access, and the larger ones have their own pools. The water villas either face the turquoise lagoon or have uninterrupted views over the ocean. They feature sunken baths with sea views, private ‘water gardens’ with daybeds and hammocks, and some are available with a private pool.

The beach front villas work well for families travelling with one child under 12 years, with the child accommodated on the day bed which is turned into a bed.  An extra rollaway can be provided for a second child although this is a bit of a squeeze. Larger families can be accommodated in the family villas and two bedroom lagoon beach villas, each of which has a king size and two twin beds. The two bedroom ocean beach villa with pool is the largest villa available and comprises two beach villas joined by a common area with dining and living spaces. This can sleep up to four adults and six children on day and rollaway beds.

The villa pools are unheated and are 1.2 meters deep. The main pool at Sip Sip has shallow, child friendly, children’s corners. The resort has six bars and restaurants, most of which are set over water and make the most of the stunning natural environment.  There is also a spa, dive and watersports centre, outdoor cinema, library, medical clinic, boutique and kid’s club.

Eating & Sleeping
A children’s menu is available at the family friendly main restaurant Longitude and features favourites such as fish fingers, chicken nuggets,  pasta etc. In addition there is a child and infant in-villa dining service available. Children can take advantage of unlimited free ice cream from morning to midnight from ICE the al fresco ice cream parlour with over 40 flavours.

Children’s club, The Den, offers babysitting services with qualified staff at a rate of US$ 15 per hour per child. Each additional child will be charged US$5 per hour per child. Booking is required for babysitting.

Activities
Snorkellers can enjoy excellent diving on the house reef and scuba divers will find pristine coral gardens and an extraordinary range of marine life close by. Morning and afternoon boat trips can be organised to nearby surf breaks, and windsurfing, water skiing and catamaran sailing can also be arranged. The beach front spa offers a range of treatments and highly skilled therapists will sooth away the worries and stress of day to day life.

Specifically for children …
The Den children’s club is a great spot for youngsters. The qualified team keep children entertained from 9am – 1pm and 2pm – 6pm with a daily changing, age appropriate, activity programme including cooking, face painting, treasure hunts, volleyball, football, table tennis, cycling and the cinema under the stars. Children between the ages of 3 – 12 years are welcome. Children less than three years are also welcome provided they are accompanied by their parents, guardian or a babysitter.

The resident team of marine biologists can take children aged five and above snorkelling, subject to parents’ consent, and swimming ability.  Kids aged eight years and above can participate in special child diving activities. The on-site dive centre, Deep Blue Divers, offers complimentary life jackets and snorkelling equipment for children.
