Soneva Jani

Soneva Jani is located in the Medhufaru lagoon in the Noonu Atoll and is reached via a 40 minute seaplane flight from Malé International Airport. Spread over five islands and surrounded by a crystal clear private lagoon, the resort offers guests a wonderful castaway experience. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
There are 24 over- water villas, ranging in size from one to four bedrooms, each opening onto its own stretch of sparkling lagoon. The beautifully designed interiors are light and bright with comfy sofas and white rattan furniture. Press a button and the retractable roof opens over the bed to reveal the starry night skies. Each has a private pool and several feature a slide from the top floor straight into the lagoon. All villas can accommodate extra children’s beds. In addition to the over-water villas there is a four bedroom beachfront island villa with private pool and a maximum capacity of eight adults and two children.

There are five dining options including four tables at the Observatory where screens linked to the resort’s telescope allow diners an extraordinary celestial experience.

Eating & Sleeping
Children’s menus are available in all of the restaurants provided the food is ordered in advance. The kids’ menu features family favourites such as chicken strips, pasta and tomato sauce, mango and chicken salad and prawn tempura. So Cool is the in house ice cream parlour with over 60 flavours of ice cream. Room service is available between 0600-2300hrs
Babysitting must be pre-booked and is provided by kids club staff who are professionally trained and costs US$25 per hour per child.

Activities
For underwater enthusiasts, the reef around the lagoon offers wonderful snorkelling while scuba-divers will find dive sites rich in marine life nearby. It’s possible to explore on foot or by bicycle, or to arrange to take a speedboat trip or private sunset dolphin cruise. Soneva Jani is home to the first overwater observatory in the Maldives and the resident astronomer is on hand to teach guests the secrets of the sky. Cinema Paradiso is the first silent cinema in the Maldives – and guests are provided with Bluetooth headphones so not to disturb the surroundings. The spa offers a range of treatments and there’s a small gym and yoga pavillion for guest use.

Specifically for children …
During Kids Club “The Den” opening hours (0930-1700hrs) parents can leave children aged four years and above to join the hosted activities. Younger children are also invited provided they bring a parent or babysitter with them. The daily changing schedule of activities at The Den include arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, exploring, baking, adventure games, dressing up and watersports.

Children under 12 years needs to be accompanied and supervised by the parents in any water sports activity.  Age appropriate equipment is available for younger guests.
