Sanctuary Sussi and Chuma

Sussi and Chuma – named after David Livingstone’s two loyal attendants – is an exclusive newly refurbished Zambian lodge situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River 12 km upstream from Victoria Falls and just five miles outside Livingstone town. Sussi welcomes children from six years old and Chuma welcomes children of all ages.

Accommodation & Facilities
Sussi comprises 12 luxury tree-houses which are built into the living canopy of the giant jackalberry trees lining the river bank. Each one is thatched and decorated in natural organic materials to blend with the landscape and has a riverfront terrace and en-suite bathrooms with freestanding baths.

Chuma offers two private houses, perfect for families, each sleeping four with the option to add an additional child’s bed (subject to availability). Each house has two en-suite bedrooms, a spacious lounge and dining area, outdoor deck and private plunge pool. Guests here are provided with a private safari guide and vehicle and a private chef.

The main building, which is shared by Sussi and Chuma, has an outdoor bar overlooking the Zambezi River, offering guests fabulous views of the sunset. The extended outdoor decking area also includes a boma fire pit and dining area.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can have earlier mealtimes and child friendly menus are available. Babysitting is also available on request. Please note the sitter has childcare experience but has no formal training or qualification.

Wildlife & Activities
Sussi and Chuma is the perfect place for excursions to view the Victoria Falls, guided walking safaris, game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, fishing, white water rafting and sunset cruises on the Zambezi River and cultural tours of Livingstone town.
