The Aiyana

The Aiyana has a beachfront location with spectacular views of the sunset on the Ras Kigomasha peninsula, the north western tip of Pemba Island in the Zanzibar archipelago. Children from six years old are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
All 30 magnificent villas enjoy views over the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon, the coral reef and the Indian Ocean beyond. Aiyana offers five categories of rooms, all are beach front with expansive front and rear gardens, king size beds and indoor and outdoor showers with separate bathtub.

There are eight one bedroom Prestige Villas which accommodate two adults and one child (up to 16 years). These don’t have a living room but do have an outdoor seating area. The 18 one bedroom Senior Villas accommodate two adults and one child (up to 16 years) and have a living room and entrance lobby. The two, two-bedroom Ambassador Villas can accommodate four adults and two children (up to 16 years). The master bedroom is on the ground floor and there is one bedroom upstairs. These feature a living room, an outdoor decking area with seating and a private infinity swimming pool. The Royal Villa can accommodate six adults and two children (up to 16 years) in three bedrooms. The bathrooms are enormous. There is an indoor living and dining area as well as an outdoor deck with seating area and a covered verandah and a private infinity swimming pool and private beach. From 2019 there will also be a Presidential Villa which will accommodate four adults and two children (up to 16 years) in two bedrooms. Both rooms are on the ground floor and connected via a large living room and entrance area. The villa also features kitchenette and separate quarters for a maid/nanny.

There is one main large swimming pool which has a section for children although this is not clearly divided from the deep area. The restaurant serves a fusion of traditional Zanzibari and international flavours. Seafood is a speciality and fresh fish are available on a daily basis. The facilities are competed by a bar, lovely spa and two curio shops.

Eating & Sleeping
Very young children can have separate meal times but this needs to be requested prior to arrival. The chef will chat parents to find out children’s preferences and will cater accordingly. A babysitting service is available (during dinner time only and needs to be pre-booked) and costs US$15 per hour.

Wildlife & Activities
The seas surrounding Pemba have abundant marine life with plenty of healthy coral, and Aiyana offers the perfect base for exploring some of the best dive sites in East Africa. Aside from diving, there is a range of land and water based activities available including mountain biking, kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkelling.

Specifically for children …
Although there are not any specific children’s activities all the excursions are child-friendly. Children’s spa treatments can be arranged and there are child-size life jackets available.
