The Residence Maldives
The Residence Maldives is situated on Falhumaafushi, a pristine island in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, and offers an oasis of sun-kissed beaches and crystal clear waters. The resort is reached via a scenic 55 minute flight and then a short speedboat transfer. Children of all ages are welcome.
Accommodation & Facilities
The 94 villas draw their inspiration from the beautiful surroundings and feature thatched roofs, natural materials and lush fabrics. Classic yet modern in style, with high ceilings and French windows, each airy, light filled room has stunning 360-degree views. Bespoke furnishings, accented with local artefacts and wall art, sit comfortably alongside the modern creature comforts that are standard in all villas. Guests can choose from beach-front or over-water villas. The best accommodation options for families are the one and two bedroom Beach Pool Villas which sleep a maximum of two adults and one child (under 16yrs) or two adults and up to three children respectively including a rollaway bed. Both options include a private pool and outdoor deck.
Three restaurants offer everything from fine dining and gastronomic delights to light bites in a variety of settings. For a real Robinson Crusoe experience it’s possible to arrange a castaway picnic on a private island.
Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meal times and there is a children’s menu in the Dining Room beachfront restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the Beach Bar with choices from pizza, kebabs, fresh fish, rice, and pasta etc. Room service is also available. Complimentary fruit, sorbets and ice lollies by the poolside are a big hit with the kids.
During opening hours (10 – 5.30pm) , babysitting at the Kids Club is complimentary. Babysitting is available at approx. US$25 per hour.
Activities
The spa sits at the end of a private jetty overlooking the lagoon and offers an array of holistic treatments and pampering massages. The vibrant reefs and lagoons of the Gaafu Alifu atoll are home to over 1,200 species of fish and multi coloured coral and include many untouched dive sites, suitable for all levels of divers. Snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and paddle boarding are all available along with motorised watersports such as water skiing, jet skiing, dolphin cruises and visits to isolated islands and local villages.
Specifically for children …
The Kids Club caters for children aged three to 12 and is a great place for younger guests to make friends and be entertained. A daily activity schedule includes arts and crafts, games, treasure hunts, beach sports and kid’s movies. Other activities available for children (accompanied by a parent) include double kayaking, sunset and dolphin cruises and fishing. The resort’s very own PADI 5-Star Dive Centre has a variety of classes and excursions for the little ones including the Bubble Maker dive programme available for eight years and above, and guided snorkelling. Age appropriate snorkelling equipment is available and the calm seas provide a safe haven for beginners.
After a busy day of swimming and exploring, little ones can escape to The Spa by Clarins to experience the hotel’s new kid’s spa menu.
