Tswalu The Motse

Tswalu Motse lies at the foot of the Korannaberg Mountains facing west across the Kalahari on the huge Tswalu Kalahari Reserve. The reserve, which covers more than 1,200 square kilometres or 120,000 hectares, is on the edge of the Kalahari Desert and is one of the largest privately owned wildlife reserves in South Africa.

Accommodation & Facilities
The Motse is designed like an African village and consists of nine authentic stone walled and thatch-roofed bungalows. The air-conditioned bungalows are elegantly appointed with indoor and outdoor showers, views across the Kalahari plains, and private sundecks, creating a rustic feel but with privacy and luxury. Three are family rooms accommodating four guests each. Meals can be served in the dining room, on the deck outside, or in the privacy of guests’ suites. The lodge has a large, heated pool, a walk-in wine cellar stocked with fine South African wines, a spa and gym, and a dining room, bar, lounge, and library.

Wildlife & Activities
Guests can take guided walks across the stunning, silent red dunes. Private day and night wildlife drives in open safari vehicles allow guests excellent wildlife sightings and can also stop at scenic spots to enjoy an impressive sunset or splendid bush dinner. Bird watching, stargazing, rhino tracking and visits to the habituated meerkat dens of Tswalu are just some of the activities on offer. Horse riding gives guests the chance to become one with nature and to experience close encounters with wildlife. Dinner at the superb Boscia Restaurant is included during a two night stay. Sleep outs at the Malori platform, which is about 5 miles from the Motse, offer an exciting way to spend a night out in the wilds and enjoy the stunning night skies. Malori has a tent at the back of the platform to provide shelter if required, and an en-suite bathroom. Dinner is prepared while the guests enjoy sun-downers and the amazing Kalahari sunsets, and the following morning they can ride, walk or drive back to the lodge. Please ask us for pricing details for the Malori sleepout.
