Waterberry Lodge

Waterberry Lodge has a gorgeous river-side setting about 12 miles upstream from the Victoria Falls in Zambia. The lodge has a secluded position on the banks of the spectacular Zambezi River, and wonderful views of the Zambezi National Park in Zimbabwe on the opposite bank.

Accommodation & Facilities
Waterberry Lodge has three distinct parts to it, with seven thatched cottages at the main Lodge, three tents in the private Woodlands section, and the four bedroom River Farmhouse. The seven thatched cottages are well spaced around sweeping lawns, some on the riverbank and the others overlooking a small lake which teems with visiting birdlife. Each room has an en-suite shower room. Two of the cottages (Jacana and Heron) have a superking size bed plus a single in the alcove which is ideal for parents with a child, a second bed can be added for another child if required. Owl House has a double bedroom, bathroom and a small lounge on the ground floor, with a twin upstairs on the mezzanine floor – this is ideal for parents with two children, and an extra bed can be added to make upstairs into a triple. Woodlands has a lovely location in a clearing in the natural forest, and has three large safari tents with en-suite bathrooms. Guests here share the facilities at the main lodge. River Farmhouse, 250m downstream from the main lodge, is a private safari house with four bedrooms. Sleeping up to nine, it is perfect for families, especially those on multi-generation holidays. Both the lodge and the Farmhouse have large swimming pools. The lodge pool has a shallow plunge pool beside the main pool, and large shallow steps into the pool itself. The Farmhouse pool has a gently sloping bottom. Neither are heated.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can be catered for separately and have food specially prepared after discussion with the family. Local staff will babysit for no charge, but parents are expected to tip them for their services.

Wildlife & Activities
Waterberry Lodge is an ideal base for visiting the Victoria Falls and offers a wide variety of activities including sunset and sunrise boat trips and signposted nature trails, which take you around the lake, to see birds, fish and small wildlife. The floating pontoon is perfect for sundowners on the Zambezi River, fishing, or just relaxing and enjoying the view. Whitewater rafting, canoeing, bungi jumping, horse riding, and helicopter flights over the Victoria Falls are some of the many activities that can be arranged for an additional charge.

Specifically for children ….
The swimming pool and boat trips are ideal for children. Life jackets are supplied for the boat. Children using the boat and the pool must be supervised by their parents or a nominated adult. There are no age limits for children, the only stipulation is that they must be well supervised, well behaved and not disturb other guests. The Zambian staff love children and are always prepared to show them little elements of Zambian life.
